Dear Parents and Guardians,
It's hard to believe we are on the downward slope of the rest of this school year! As the year begins to wind down, please watch for specific dates and information about important events.
This week, we have Junior Achievement in a Day on Friday.
This will be a great opportunity for our students. Friday will also be "Formal Friday" for the Relay for Life Fundraiser. For $1, students can dress in their very best outfits and get all spiffed up. We raised over $110 last week for Super Hero Day!
Also, if your student has not yet returned their permission slip and field trip money, please do so ASAP. The field trip is on Monday, May 19.
Here's a look at what's going on this week at school:
6th Grade Math: Students will be working with sales tax and real world problems relating to tips. There will be review of equations, inequalities, and integers. There will be a Common Assessment test over this information on Friday.
HW: 60 minutes of IXL, study for test on Friday
Advanced Math: Students will finish their Angles Project. The final work is due on Thursday, and presentations will be on Friday.
HW: 60 minutes of IXL
Language Arts: Students will continue reviewing argument writing by reading multiple articles and forming opinions about the topics in a debate-style. We will also be continuing our work with counter arguments to prepare for the 4th quarter writing prompt on Thursday.
HW: Complete two Achieve 3000 articles, Riverside Reads 30 minutes each night
PBL Work Time: As we wrap up our "What's the Matter?" project in the next few weeks, students will need to finalize their resumes. Final draft resumes are due this Wednesday; they will need to provide a printed copy. We will not print the resumes for the students at school. Any letters of recommendation they have secured will also need to be printed and turned in on Wednesday. There will be time for peer feedback and final adjustments today and tomorrow in PBL time. On Thursday, we will begin offering workshops on interview questions, answers, and general interview skills.
Final interviews will take place next week on Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday. A schedule for interviews will be provided to the students later this week.
