Hello Parents and Guardians,
The next two weeks will be jam-packed with fun events and end-of-year wrap up assignments. It's hard to believe there are only 8 days left in this school year...
Here are some important dates to take note of:
Tomorrow, May 28, is Field Day. MANY 6th graders have not turned in their permission slip for this. Students will need to bring this by tomorrow if they would like to participate. Students should also wear comfy clothes for outdoors, and they may want to bring a change of clothes in case they get wet in some of the events.
All Math Classes: Students will be working on creating kites using their knowledge of angles, measurements, and equations. They will have to draft and create a kite out of newspaper. These kites will eventually be flown at the end of the school year.
HW: 60 minutes of IXL (very last week!)
Language Arts: Students will be finishing their literature circle novels this week. As they read and discuss the book in their group, they will be analyzing possible themes from their book. The Analyzing Theme document will need to be turned in by Friday.
All Riverside Reads work must be completed and turned in by the end of the day on Friday.
HW: Complete two Achieve 3000 articles (both are assigned this week!), complete Riverside Reads
PBL Work Time: Students will be creating a script and a plan for their Who Am I Now? final video. Scripts will be due at the end of PBL time on Wednesday. Students will provide feedback to each other on the scripts on Thursday, and then continue to work on their video/recording creation. All videos must be turned in at the end of PBL work time on Friday. We will have a final "Grand Showing" of these videos on Monday, June 2. The project rubric is attached if you would like to see the specifics of how the students will be graded.
HW: Students will need to work on the script and video at home in order to have it completed in final draft form by Friday.
And here's a preview of final Relay for Life fundraisers taking place next week... more information will come next week! Relay for Life Fun Fair Days!
As always, feel free to contact us with any questions or concerns.
Have a great week!
