First of all, we are excited to announce that our team raised $1,114 for Relay for Life via the movie night after school on Friday! Thanks for your support on this!
This week, you are invited to attend the 6th Grade PBL Climate Regions Walk-Through presentations. Students will be presenting their realistic climate region and informational skit onThursday afternoon starting at 1:00-2:00pm. We would love to have you visit and see the creative work your students have been putting in.
Here's to hoping we have a normal, five-day week this week! Take a look at what's going on in each class.
6th Grade Math: Students will be finishing Topic 10 (Ratios and Equivalent Ratios) in the Digits program. There will be review of the information on Thursday, and a test over this topic on Friday. All Topic 10 Digits work will need to be turned in by Wednesday.
HW: Complete 60 minutes of IXL for the week, Complete Topic 10 Digits work, study for test
Advanced Math: Student will take a test on Topic 8 (Equations) on Tuesday. The rest of the week, students will work on Topic 9 (Inequalities) in Digits. There will be new vocabulary associated with this topic as well.
HW: Complete 60 minutes of IXL for the week, study for the test, Work on Topic 9 Digits lessons
Language Arts: This week, we'll finishing the book Freedom Walkers and wrapping up our lessons on identifying and explaining the main idea of various pieces of literature. Students will continue thinking about our driving question, "What is freedom?" in preparation for a class Socratic Circle discussionon Friday.
This week, students' Achieve 3000 article is titled "First Contact."
HW: Read 30 minutes each night, Complete TWO Achieve 3000 articles at 75% or higher
PBL Work Time: Students will use this week to finish creating their realistic climate region set and practice their informational skit before the final presentations on Thursday. The PROJECT CALENDAR shows what is due each day. Students will need to practice their lines for their skit at home to be prepared for their presentation.
HW: Practice lines and skit for informational presentation on Thursday!
Other Important Dates and Information:
*This week is Relay for Life Spirit Days! Students can pay $1 for each day they would like to dress for the assigned spirit day. (Monday: Super Hero Day, Tuesday: Crazy Hair Day,Wednesday: Mix-Match/Crazy Outfit Day, Thursday: Pajama Day, Friday: Team Color Day - our team is supposed to wearRED!)
*There WILL be school on Monday, February 16.
