Hello Parents and Guardians,
Well, we made it through the first day! Today went very well, and the students seem to be adjusting well. Most of the 6th graders left with smiles!
For most of the day, we spent time talking about TRUST (one of the three New Tech pillars). The students were able to brainstorm, discuss (pictures attached), and write about the importance of trust at school and in life. (Ask your student about the interesting article they read this afternoon!) We also spent some time as a team getting to know team expectations and each other.
As a team, we had a great time playing Multi-Massive Multi-Player Thumb Wrestling. The students seemed to enjoy that. Check out the pictures attached!
Tomorrow, the students will be getting into their morning routine by going to their Math and Language Arts in the morning. In the afternoon, as a team we will learn about the other two pillars of New Tech, RESPECT and RESPONSIBILITY. Students will be creating short skits and showing us examples of how these words fit into everyday life. Then, the students will be creating our team "norms" - the rules and expectations the students will follow for the year. The best part about this is because they create the norms, they take ownership and responsibility of holding each other accountable to them.
Friday will be exciting because we have many different community members coming in to share with both the 5th and 6th grade PBL teams how they use trust, respect, and responsibility in their careers. Students will be able to choose their top four choices of presentations to attend.
As an additional note, students will be receiving their computerson Friday morning. Computers will stay at school over the weekend.
Don't forget, you can always find more information and pictures on our team website: http://pblinnovationacademy.weebly.com
Overall, it was a really fantastic day and we are so excited to see your students grow and learn this year!
As always, if you have any questions or concerns please feel free to email or call any of us at your convenience.
Thanks again,
